The NDVI index is created by comparing the reflectivity of the turf from various spectrum's of light. Healthy plants, through photosynthesis, will capture and absorb certain light bands while reflecting others. It is this difference in reflectivity that allows imagery to identify areas of turf stress.

We are currently exploring opportunities of NDVI mapping and how these maps and subsequent data can benefit turf and golf course managers. NDVI imagery has been shown to effectively reduce fertilizer costs from 35 up to 60% in some instances through the use of variable rate application.
